Winter Lake

We are hitting a cold snap. It is pretty awesome to witness what the cold is capable of, what the snow transforms, how your body reacts to it, how nature breathes the seasons. I love it.

Nos la estamos pasando de lo mas chido con esta ola fria que nos cargamos. Como no tenemos necesidad de quitarnos las pijamas ya se imaginaran! L'otro dia se nos ocurrio ir a ver que ondas con el lago, estaba tecnicamente helando a -30 grados centigrados, y vieran visto aquello. Ay que friazo! Pero de lo mas hermoso.

I always hated winter. In Mexico winters suck. There is no snow, only hard, biting cold...and at some points of the day is so flippin' hot that you have to take your coat to stop sweating buckets; as soon as you do that, the winter wind comes and sweaps you off to the land of "forever head-cold".

 

Here, winters are what winters are supposed to be. White. Cold, unbelievably cold (but you dress for them and you warm yourself with a roaring fire). Snow makes it ten times more fun. There are all kinds of activities to partake in: skating (both on frozen lakes as well as homemade skating rinks in your grandparents' backyard...yeah!), sledding, skidooing, skiing, snow-shoeing, ice fishing (not for me sorry!), bird watching (amazing!), hot chocolate drinking, knitting (always), snow-angeling, snowball-fighting,snowman building, animal track guessing, etc...the list is endless and the fun is endless. I hope you are enjoying January.

A mi esto del invierno me pasaba a refregar la existencia. Eso de ponte el abrigo, quitate el abrigo, sal desencampuchada, ah no! mejor abrigate otra vez...como que pasaba a dar muchisima flojera. Aqui en Canada los inviernos son como deben ser. Frios. Muy frios. Pero uno ya se la sabe asi que no te agarran desprevenida. Hay nieve, mucha nieve, lo que pasa a incrementar el factor "chido" a la N potencia. Hay muchas actividades invernales y sobre todo, tiene uno el pretexto mas grande del universo para recogerse en el sagrado hogar a tirar flojera y a tejer se ha dicho!. Espero que se lo esten divirtiendo en estos inviernos!
